How to Make French Vegetable Frittata

If you’re looking for a delicious and nutritious meal, a French vegetable frittata is an excellent choice. It's versatile, easy to prepare, and perfect for any meal of the day. Here’s how to make a mouthwatering French vegetable frittata that you and your family will love.

Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup of mixed vegetables (zucchini, bell peppers, spinach, and onions)
  • 1 cup of grated cheese (Gruyère or any cheese of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (such as parsley or chives) for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This will ensure that your frittata cooks evenly and achieves a perfectly fluffy texture.

Step 2: Prepare the Vegetables

Wash and chop the mixed vegetables into small, bite-sized pieces. This allows them to cook evenly and blend well with the eggs.

Step 3: Sauté the Vegetables

In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped vegetables and sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are soft and slightly golden. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4: Beat the Eggs

In a separate bowl, crack the eggs and whisk them thoroughly. You can add a pinch of salt and pepper for extra flavor at this stage.

Step 5: Combine Eggs and Vegetables

Once the vegetables are sautéed, reduce the heat to low. Pour the beaten eggs over the vegetables in the skillet. Stir gently to ensure the vegetables are evenly distributed. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top.

Step 6: Cook on the Stovetop

Cook the frittata on the stovetop for about 5 minutes without stirring. This helps to set the bottom of the frittata before placing it in the oven.

Step 7: Bake in the Oven

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the frittata is puffed and set in the center. You can check for doneness by inserting a toothpick—if it comes out clean, the frittata is ready.

Step 8: Cool and Serve

Once cooked, remove the frittata from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. To serve, carefully slice it into wedges. Garnish with fresh herbs for an extra touch of flavor.

Tips for the Perfect Frittata

  • Feel free to mix and match your favorite vegetables depending on the season or what you have on hand.
  • Serving it as a brunch dish? Pair it with a light salad for a complete meal.
  • You can also make the frittata ahead of time and reheat it for a quick meal during the week.

A French vegetable frittata is not only delicious but also a great way to pack in those veggies. Whether enjoyed fresh out of the oven or as leftovers, this dish is sure to satisfy your taste buds while keeping your meal healthy.
